The Influence of the Wonder Years

Ion is showing the Wonder Years now in repeat. I've been watching them for the first time in years. This is possibly the most influential show of the last 20 years. For those that don't remember, it is a sitcom starring Fred Savage. Look it up on Youtube and feel shamed because you just missed out on a great show. Now for why I make my statement about this show:

  • Voiceover - Sounds like Scrubs to me
  • No laugh track
  • Multiple camera filmed like a short film
  • Walks the line between humor and heart with the best of them
  • The actors who appeared in the show. I don't mean guest stars, I mean young actors who are now better known. Such as Juliette Lewis, Seth Green, David Schwimmer, and Jim Caviezel just as the ones I can remember.

At some point I will write a more thought out version of this. I just wanted to mention that you should probably watch this show again or for the first time if you aren't already.

4/6/2007 Weather Channel Top 100

This morning as I was learning it will be cold as h today, Weather Channel ran a promo for their 100 biggest weather moments. They showed clips of people they were interviewing which included Danica Patrick. Which I found odd only because she was wearing her flame retardant racing suit. She wasn't at a track. She was in the studio. But she was wearing her racing suit... designed for safety. I assume she had somewhere to be or they lied to her about what they were actually doing the interview for.

Some of the other notable interviewees were Bob Costas and Bobby Lee (from Mad TV). Way to go, WC. You really drove the point home that wether effects everyone. Whether you meant to or not.
