Long Bio: Usually shorter, but I have the space.

John Durbin, a native of Columbus Ohio, has performed sketch comedy since he was 18 starting with the Boston College Sketch Comedy group Hello… Shovelhead.  After a 4 year stint in the group, 2 of which were as director, John graduated with a degree in Communication from BC with a concentration in writing.

After Boston, John moved to Chicago in 2003 where he graduated from the Second City writing and Improv Conservatory programs.  John served as director, writer, and performer for the Solids in their show “Feet of Clay” in 2005.  John also served as head writer and performed with the video/sketch group Our Fallen Spacemen.  The group performed at Chicago Sketchfest 2006, the University of Arizona’s SICK Festival 2006, and also Donny’s Skybox Theatre.  He currently is working in the two-person sketch group Fried Green Durbins who have performed in Chicago at various venues and also as part of Chicago and San Francisco Sketchfests in 2007. Most recently the group will be performing as part of DC Comedyfest 2007.

In addition to comedy John also runs a production company called Papa Durbin Studios. The focus of the company is on music but also branches out to other aspects, most notably film and graphic arts. Papa Durbin Studios is in its most fledgling stages but has some projects coming up in the form of a short comedy film and also a music album completely unrelated to the film.

John currently lives in Chicago where, in addition to comedy, he works in media (advertising), participates in a few sports leagues (real and fantasy), and writes/records music.
