What’s a Durbin? Durbin is John’s last name. Megan’s last name is Green. Their group name is derived from their last names. Have you ever seen Fried Green Tomatoes? Megan has, John hasn’t. In no way is our name meant to be related to the movie. Do you do your shows on drugs? Um… no… that’s kind of a weird question. I thought maybe that is where the Fried came from. Oh, gotcha. Nope. Also, that wasn’t a question. Sorry. So your group is a guy and a girl so you guys are dating or married or something, right? No, John and Megan have never dated. Then how did you two meet? John and Megan met while working in the sketch comedy group the Solids. The group was formed by John and some friends from his Second City Writing class (total name drop right there). They needed female performers and one of the fellas had class with Megan at IO. Megan is a good performer so he asked her to be in the show. Was it instant chemistry? No. Megan and John actually did not get along very well while in the Solids. There were a lot of reasons that we won’t go into right now. Is it because they hooked up and then it was awkward? No. John and Megan have never had anything more than a friendship. If the two didn’t get along then why are they in a group with each other? Some stuff went down, they spent some time apart after the Solids and when they met back up they got along significantly better. Is that when Fried Green Durbins was born? Yes and no- What a terrible answer. You didn’t let me finish. Megan had organized a show that required a large cast and little commitment and John was a part of it. They would often joke around backstage. One night while joking John said “We should do a two person show called Fried Green Durbins”. That sounds like the answer was yes. This was in October of 2005. After that show Megan and John had thrown around the idea of actually doing a two person show but never really did more than that. The two worked together again in a group called Our Fallen Spacemen and finally debuted their two person format in Spring of 2006. What kind of style of comedy are you? John loves Kids in the Hall. Megan really likes Sarah Silverman. Their shows end up somewhere in between those two. Is it just John and Megan? No. They work with a director named Matt Sanchez. He was in John's Second City Conservatory Class and also one of the founding members of Our Fallen Spacemen. He also performs and writes other stuff. How can I book Fried Green Durbins for a show? You can send an e-mail to shows@friedgreendurbins.com. If you guys aren’t dating and never have, is John gay or something? He might as well be. But no, he is not. Megan gay? Nope. Where can I see other things the members of Fried Green Durbins are working on? Check out their blogs in the links page. There might be stuff in there Megan performs more so you are more likely to see her out on a stage. John is likely in front of a computer somewhere obsessing over fantasy sports or writing. Someone told me you have official colors. Is that true? Yup. Dark Green, Maroon, and Gold. Although we kind of stray from that these days. Do you have an official logo or animal mascot? No animal. We have a couple logos. Mostly FGD in brackets because it is easy. But John also made a shield like you would find a coat of arms. Really? Yup. Are you sure he’s not gay? Positive. Thanks for answering some Q's. No, thank you. If you have any questions please e-mail info@friedgreendurbins.com What’s with all the e-mails? We get 5,000 as part of the deal with our internet host. Oh. Can I have one? I don’t think so. K.
